I’m baaacck! I realize I have basically fallen off the face of the earth since January so let me explain myself… It’s fitting that in my last post before I went MIA, I mentioned how busy I was after letting some wedding to-dos slide because OHMYGOSH my wedding completely took over my life! Between my 9-5 job (which is rarely nine to five), wedding planning, and blogging something had to give. Unfortunately that “something” was keeping up with the blog. Buuttt, now that I’m back and things have settled down, I’m committing myself to blogging at least 3 times a week – hopefully, more. You guys should expect new posts at least each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (but I’m going to try for every weekday!).
My One Wedding Regret
Ok, so that’s a bit harsh. My wedding day was absolutely PERFECT, it went off without a hitch and there’s honestly not one thing I would change about it (except maybe, I would’ve remembered to bring my veil to the venue so my Maid of Honor didn’t have to scramble back to get it)! But, if you could call it a “wedding regret,” the one thing that would have been nice to have was a wedding planner or day of coordinator.
When Jered and I planned our wedding, we were careful about the vendors we chose. We hoped this would keep us from needing to spend more cash on a coordinator. Let me explain: our venue included our caterer, DJ, lighting, and rentals. They were able to do all the setup and cleanup for us as well – other than the decor we brought. Our florist and cake baker also work with each other often, so coordination between them was easy as well.
We figured since all that was done for us we could handle the rest ourselves. For the most part, we were right. However, on our wedding day, we had to ask a family friend to set the reception decor we brought up for us. She did a wonderful job, but we wished she got to enjoy the evening more. Also, there were a few coordination snags that I had to deal with myself (like trying to figure out how the ceremony arch was getting to the venue when our previous plan fell through last minute) as I was trying to get ready. That was definitely stress I didn’t need that day!
All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day. But, if I had to do it all over again, I definitely would’ve hired some outside help to execute everything the day of!
P.S. I can’t wait to share all the details and photos of my wedding with you guys each Wedding Wednesday!
